Thank you everyone who offered hugs and support after my latest update on my father. I really do appreciate it. But, my life is not all about struggles right now. There are some really good things going on. Below is just a sampling of the good stuff in my life right now (as usual, they are in no particular order).
1. I have said this before, and I will say it again. My friends are amazing. Everywhere I look in my life, there is someone wonderful who loves me.
2. Yesterday David and I had dinner with close friends. Of entirely his own volition, their 5 year old son brought me a rose. How sweet is that?
3. Niecelettes. No list on the good things in my life is complete without my beloved girls. BONUS: I got to chat with them shortly yesterday. Always a high point.
4. My brother. Father to my niecelettes. Confidant and friend. And a real mensch, to boot.
5. Our monsters (aka cats). Being raised on Sesame Street, I think of monsters as friendly furry creatures. Pretty much describes our cats. And when Dancer lays across my arm in a certain way, he even looks like a muppet. The only caveat is that Nom Nom is still afraid (after 3+ years) that we are going to eat him.
6. Tech Whispering. I love the work I do. Making WordPress bend to my will brings me great joy.
7. Learning. My PHP lessons are going swimmingly. With extra thanks to my study-buddy @Betalister, provider of treats and caffeine.
8. Crafting. I am making PHP badges for @Betalister and myself. Fun to make and fun to earn. Plus, I am knitting a linen scarf. Linen has become my new favorite fiber to work with. DoublePlus Good.
9. My psychic WonderTwin.
10. I deliberately kept the best for last. David. There are not words to describe what he means to me.
This is the list I keep in mind for those times when life seems overwhelming or hard. It doesn’t always make me feel better immediately. Sometimes I need to wallow in my personal misery before I can start looking for silver linings. But, when I am ready, having a list of the good things in my life helps keep me from taking up residence in my personal Pit of Darkness.
