Something this summer sucked up all my crafty mojo. I spent the entire summer anticipating playing on the lap loom at Lake Placid, but barely touched it (I know that I have a better, fancier loom, but the appeal of weaving on vacation is a powerful force). My table loom has been equally ignored.  I have done some knitting, but not at my usual pace.  And my embroidery? Let’s not talk about that.
But times, they are a’changing.  There is crafty mojo in the air.  ‘Tis the season of my favorite fiber festival (say that 10 times fast): Oregon Flock N Fiber Festival(OFFF).   OFFF brings all of the full lifecycle of fiber arts together in one place.  Bringing fiber animals, spinners, weavers, knitters, crocheters, felters, etc. together in one joyous event every September.  It is something I look forward to every year,
This year we are slightly ambivalent about attending.  On the one hand, neither of us have used up the yarn we bought last year (although I did knit a bunch of it into a shawl).  On the other hand, this is a once-a-year experience that we would hate to miss.
OFFF is fun whether you buy anything or not.  But, there are just some amazing deals that are hard to pass up.  And I have gotten so much beautiful yarn there in the past.  I could utilize the same strategy as I do for the farmers market and just bring a pre-defined amount of cash and pretend that there are no credit or debit cards in my wallet.  Or, we could just go and not buy anything.  And if you believe that, I have a bridge on Mars to sell you.
This year’s event comes with a twist.  We are planning on going to OFFF on Sunday the 29th, which is the same day of the Craft Swap.  I am planning on going to both, but I wish they were in reverse order.  If I find a bunch of awesome yarn at the craft swap, it would help my resolve to buy little or nothing at OFFF.  But, if I cave and buy yarn and OFFF, I may decide that I am overwhelmed with yarn and not go.  Which would be bad for my craft room, which seems to be filled with craft materials begging to be given away.
